SAJBD Mourns the Passing of Bertie Lubner


The South African Jewish Board of Deputies extends its condolences to the family and friends of Bertie Lubner who sadly passed away this morning (18 April 2016).

Bertie was an extraordinary man, contributing to many worthy causes. His vision and leadership were responsible for the creation and development of some of South Africa’s leading NGO’s including Afrika Tikkun, Friends of Ben Gurion University and the SA Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Bertie was a member of the Gauteng Council, as well as the National Executive Council of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies. Bertie Lubner was also the SAJBD Gauteng Honorary Life Vice Chairman.

Wendy Kahn represented the South African Jewish Community in a high level discussion with her counterparts from around the world. She has been among speakers such as Gal Gadot, David Schiller, Montana Tucker, Sheikh Moafaq Tarif, @capesajbd Jonathan Greenblatt, each sharing their insights into ways to combat the hate that surrounds us. The conference has united world Jewish leadership in the fight against Antisemitism.
